Grand National 2024 runners, riders and odds

Sport

The full list of runners and riders for the 2024 Grand National has been narrowed down as the biggest day in the British horse racing calendar draws ever closer.

The Grand National will be held at Aintree on April 13, with a field of 34 set to run the 4m 2f race, down from last year's total of 40, to make the race safer for horses and riders.

There are currently 51 horses entered for the iconic race, but the number will be whittled down to the final 34 on Thursday, April 11 - two days before the race itself. The likes of Asterion Forlonge, James Du Berlais and Threeunderthrufive are already among the withdrawals, while Hewick, who had been allocated the race's top weight, is now set to run in the Aintree Bowl instead.

Last year's winner Corach Rambler currently tops the betting market, with odds of around 5/1 for the Scottish-trained star to repeat the trick at Aintree this time around. I Am Maximus is currently Willie Mullins' favorite shot, trading at 7/1, while 2023 Grand National runner-up Vanillier could be as good as that two-and-a-quarter loss 12 months ago at 9./1 on the betting sites.
